Timeline:
February 2021 - April 2021
Collaborators:
Temi Adesina
Opportunity area:
To grow Barter across Africa, we added Mobile money, a trusted payment method, enabling users in Nigeria and East Africa to send and receive funds easily.
Goal:
Support local transfers in Nigeria and East Africa via Mobile Money.
My role:
I collaborated closely with Product Manager Temi Adesina to design and launch the Mobile Money feature. I was responsible for the visual design, prototyping, and preparing the feature for usability testing and stakeholder demos using Figma.
Design process:
- I mapped out the end-to-end flow for mobile money transfers.
- Shared early concepts with the team for alignment.
- Created interactive prototypes in Figma for usability testing and internal demos.
User flow for both customer bases:

“Showing the full mobile money flow for East African customers”

“Send to mobile money flow for Nigerian users”
Outcomes of this project:
This project deepened my understanding of mobile money and its role in financial inclusion. By Q4 2021, this feature had the highest transaction success rate on Barter. A highlight was seeing teammates use it in Ghana, making the impact of my work feel real and deeply rewarding.
